We moved the beginning of October to Wasilla and took a breather from the adventure. We did get our well drilled. We still aren't sure how we will be able to utilize it right away. I think it's probably going to have to wait for spring. I started a job in September working part-time for Home Depot. Thought it would be good to have a discount, should have done some research and found out that they don't do discounts. Bummer!! So trying to get back into a routine takes me awhile. Now that we're all settled in here it's almost time to be back over there. Now with Zoe potty trained, I think it will be a whole lot easier. It will take some relief off of not having to driving 30 each way for school each morning and afternoon.
So the plan of right now, as it's changed a few times. The outcome is usually the same, just a different road of getting there. So we'll fix up the "mobile cabin" and live in it until the next step which should be done the next summer. Jeremy's been there the last two days working on it, clearing it out and installing the windows. The kids and I went last night. It's been cold, it was -18 when Jeremy got there yesterday and -6 while we were there. It will be nice to have it all enclosed and the heat on high. The kids had fun digging tunnels and walking around the cabin. When the knee high snow and ice breaks up and the ground starts to thaw. We'll do some more clearing on the property. So that we are clear for a housing site and for the septic. Then septic will go in. Then we are going to build a 2 car garage and be more like a carriage house. We found a house plan that we like and this is what we're going to move forward with. The way the house is set up, we can live in the carriage house, while we save for the rest of the house. So next year will probably be the foundation, then the next year or two will be the rest of the logs. Depends on how focused we are. Pieces at a time, and we will have our dream home sometime in the future. The floor plans are on eloghomes.com and the design is Northfield.
